Lead scoring
Lead scoring ranks leads by how likely they are to convert, from signals like intent, stated budget or engagement. AI sales agents often automate it.
Lead scoring is ranking leads by how likely they are to convert, based on signals like stated intent, budget, timeline, or engagement during a conversation.
How AI changes lead scoring
Traditionally, lead scoring relied on form fields and page-visit data. An AI agent handling a sales conversation via conversational AI can score a lead from the conversation itself (what the lead asked about, objections raised, and explicit buying signals), often more accurately than static form data alone.
Lead scoring and escalation
Qualified leads are typically escalated to a human sales rep immediately (see escalation), while lower-intent conversations continue with the AI agent nurturing interest or answering product questions.
